PM to use Summit Cash Award for Homes for Veterans

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen is to donate a million dollar cash award to build homes for Cambodian veterans. He made the announcement during a speech on Sunday afternoon at the official handover of the Morodok Techo National Sports Complex.

The event came just a few hours after it was announced that the Prime Minister had been awarded the “World Summit Peace” gold medal from the 7th World Rally of Hope: Think Tank 2022, under the theme “Peace in the Asia-Pacific Region”. The summit was held on Sunday via video conference. With the medal came a cash prize of $1,000,000.

The Prime Minister told an audience of approximately a thousand people on Sunday afternoon that the cash was to be used for the building of homes for veterans. He estimated that if each home costs $4,000, that would mean 250 homes could be built.
